Re: ‘Months added to wait’ for Brooks family, April 8.
After reading again in Peace Arch News about the tragedy regarding the police shooting of Hudson Brooks, I feel compelled to write.
How can this be going on so long without answers to the family and the public? The longer this goes on with lame excuses, the more suspicious this looks, like an attempted coverup.
I have respect for the RCMP, but the truth must come out.
How is it that the shootings in Surrey by a bunch of criminals can push a police shooting of an unarmed young man way past the expiry date? This is unacceptable. To say the IIO “has a big challenge with timeliness” is totally unacceptable.
You can get all the police officers you require, however, it will not do a lick of good if your resources for the “reports” from an outside ballistics lab are already overtaxed and already a year behind. Doesn’t make any sense.
This has been nearly nine months and counting. It should be a priority, and if it is not your responsibility, then whose is it?
The premier and the attorney general and every politician should be outraged. Please at least look into this and make it a priority.
The criminals can wait!
