If you have been around long enough, you may have many fond memories of the whale park at the SFN lands. It was the place to take the kids throughout the years. There was a playground there, room to run, all ages could kick a ball with the family.
I remember one winter when I think it was the firemen who froze a huge area over the snow for everyone to skate together. The beachgoers could park and play and have easy access to the beach. In the summer families could watch baseball games there.
We often rode our bikes through the lands all the way to the border, cleared customs and proceeded to the docks in Blaine for lunch.
As my daughter became a horse rider, she and her friends would meet there with the trailers and horses and ride on the miles of sand.
When the rodeo years came around we developed a sweet relationship with so many SFN residents.
Our Seafest and Torchlight Parades finished there to great family celebrations.
As I drive by now, I can’t help but feel the emptiness. It has been closed to us because people just could not respect this great gift that SFN gave to families.
Thank you, SFN for years of family memories and fun. We will remember.
