To the editor,
I am not surprised, but still disappointed, that once again the NEB has approved the Trans Mountain pipeline to go ahead, despite the environmental damage that it agrees would take place.
We are in a warming world where weather changes are already costing taxpayers in terms of forest fires, floods and storm damage as never before. The few jobs building the pipelines could as well be relocated to orphan well remediation or cleanup and clean energy alternatives. The money we (taxpayers) have already spent on the 60-year-old pipeline would have gone a long way as well toward looking to the future instead of a dying industry. Oil companies are abandoning their oil sands sites and moving to new business opportunities for a reason.
Let’s put this thing to rest finally and start retraining our oilpatch workers for good jobs in new directions. The age of oil is done.

To the editor,
I am horrified that the Liberal government is pouring our tax dollars into oil pipelines in the middle of a climate emergency.
I am so disappointed, we should be safeguarding our coast and our future by standing up and being in the forefront of change.
The Liberals pledged to make climate action a priority; do it now before it’s too late.
