For some time now, the traffic flow design for the Sooke core has seemed ridiculous.
With the changes at Townsend Rd. it is becoming absurd.Did the traffic designers miss class the day when the “KISS” principle was taught? Will ambulances have to go up and through the sub-division to get to Townsend Rd. and up and through again to get to the hospital? Will fire trucks just bump over the curb (hope no one falls off)?
If someone moves to Townsend Rd. with a tractor-trailer the driver will have to back up for quite a distance before he can turn around. I will be interested to see how the snow plow negotiates that intersection.
I think a good solution would be a pedestrian tunnel. Traffic impediments could be removed to improve traffic flow and there would be increased pedestrian safety.
Best wishes to all as we start another New Year.
