Re: Two views on value of masks, letters, Aug. 27

I take great exception to Pat Humphries’ letter.

As the government makes suggestions to protect our health, millions more dollars are being saved in healthcare, by those who heed their words.

Imagine if we were all as cavalier as many of our U.S. neighbours – our hospitals would be overflowing with sick or dying people, young and old.

Freedom came with a cost to many of those “very old people.” They are the ones who fought in the Second World War for the freedom you cherish, and they also want to hold on to the lifestyle we all enjoy.

Masks, social distancing, and tracing saves lives. Science has proved it.

“Your Body Your Choice” would be a sad epitaph to place on the grave of one of your loved ones.
