Editor:
Commercial wreaths take away from the dignity of Remembrance Day service.
It’s been going on for years, but the practice of commercial enterprises being announced as they place a wreath at the cenotaph diminishes the solemnity of the occasion.
If businesses wish to place a wreath at the cenotaph, they should wait until the military has been dismissed.
The only individuals and organizations that should be recognized are local sitting politicians, cadet troops, police and fire departments and service organizations such as the Legion, Rotary and Shriners.
Our service men and women who paid the ultimate price for our freedom deserve a dignified, non-commercial, tribute.
