I am 72 years of age and reside at 1475 Fir St. in White Rock. I have lived here since 2012, enjoying the community and all that White Rock has to offer.
In 2019 the building was sold to developer Mahdi Heidari, who has communicated his plans for redevelopment of this property with all tenants from day one of his ownership.
The developer has provided a detailed plan on how tenants will be financially compensated and assisted with moving arrangements. The moving arrangements and length of notice comply with the Residential Tenancy Board and financial compensation is generous and fair.
If the permit is granted on Jan. 18, 2021, I am prepared to move and rent in White Rock at market value. Once the new property is developed I am prepared to move back with the discounted rate offered to previous tenants.
I look forward to all the improvements that will be made and benefit me as I age. Amenities include in-suite laundry, dishwasher and an elevator, which is much needed by older residents.
The developer has demonstrated integrity every step of the way. Waiting for a resolution of this proposal and all the uncertainties have been a source of great personal stress for me.
The outbreak of COVID-19 made 2020 a challenging year, adding an extra level of stress. The public hearing, Nov. 23 2020, was cancelled due to COVID-19 and I look forward to a speedy, positive resolution of this matter on the new date of Jan. 18.
