Have your say and have it twice! That’s what’s happening with the BC Liberals. For the first time ever, the BC Liberal party base will have a real say in who is elected as the Leader of the BC Liberal Party and become premier of the province. How twice? On Feb. 12 the party will hold an Extraordinary Convention. Delegates will determine the voting process for the leadership vote. They will vote on a constitutional amendment set to modernize the party’s constitution for leadership selection, moving to a preferential ballot and giving every region of the province an equal say in selecting the party’s next leader.
If this ballot is successful, on Feb. 26 all Liberal members can cast their ballot for the leader of their choice. And, when election time comes, you get to vote again for the leader of your choice.
Never has there been this kind of voting option for people.
This is very good news for rural communities – their voice matters.
The important thing to note is that only members of good standing as of Feb. 4, 2011 will be able to participate in the Feb. 26 voting process.
