Linking taxes and teachers

I am wondering how young one needs to be to not remember the 1990s under the NDP, when B.C. was a “have-not” province.

Re: “How about corporate net-zero?” (Letters, March 29.)

In response to the letter from Frank Sterle Jr., I am wondering how young one needs to be to not remember the 1990s under the NDP, when B.C. was a “have-not” province and businesses left us by the hundreds to go elsewhere?

It sure felt good to become a “have” province again in this century. And it happened by making the business climate more attractive.

Yes, business thrives on making a profit. Without profits, businesses leave or shut down.

The difference between business and the teachers is that teachers want the government to tax us more, while businesses want to be taxed similar to other places. If not, they will move where there are less taxes.

Perhaps we should suggest the same to the teachers and others who want to increase our taxes to pay their demands.
