Little Mounain parkland purchase praised

Little Mountain Park has always been a special place for many people, with its summit filled with flowers and an almost 360-degree view.

On behalf of the Friends of Little Mountain Park, I would like to thank city council for approving the purchase of 5.8 acres (2.3 hectares) to be added to the northeast corner of Little Mountain Park. The additional land includes a pond which is in an untouched setting, and is teeming with life.

Little Mountain Park has always been a special place for many people, with its summit filled with wild flowers and an almost 360-degree view. And the addition of the pond property adds another complementary attraction.

I congratulate council on its foresight in making this acquisition. A city is often judged on its amenities. Enhancing those amenities adds another facet to the beauty of our community, making it more attractive to newcomers, improving our own quality of life, and adding to the legacy that we are leaving future generations.

A special thank you also to city staff, who had the vision to recognize the value of this acquisition, and who worked to make this purchase a feasible option.
