Man who was missing corrects the record

Work of RCMP is appreciated, but press release not completely accurate.

Editor: Re: “Update: Missing Langley man found in Burnaby,” (www.langleytimes.com, July 29).

I thank you for publishing the notice of my disappearance, and I am even more thankful to the RCMP constables that I was found intact, sans dementia.

What I am not thankful for is the implied association in the police press release to the medical condition of dementia. I have had Parkinson’s disease for  13 years. It has been a difficult time for myself and those that care for me, and I thank them for their friendship and assistance.

Having this disease is difficult at the best of times. I would like to make it clear that I do not suffer from dementia, nor have I ever been diagnosed as having any symptoms.

Thank you for publishing this so I can set the record straight.

Franco Canale,

Langley
