Dear editor,
Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North congratulates the City of Courtenay for another successful and fun Canada Day Parade.
We were thrilled to have been awarded the $200 prize for best non-profit float. Our parade entry was not only a celebration of all things Canadian, but also of community collaboration.
Thanks to the generous support of our main float sponsor, Angela Zumbo and her crew at The Mortgage Centre – Your Island Mortgage Team. 100 per cent of the prize money will go towards our next build on Lake Trail. We would also like to thank Courtenay Mazda, for donating the use of a vehicle to pull the float; Relay Rentals, for donating a bubble machine; Dollarama, for donating a gift card to help buy candy; and our two volunteer float builders, Doug Goodwin and Jon Toogood. Thanks also to Jack Dempsy for leading our entry with his antique car, and to the 22 Habitat employees and volunteers who proudly marched along the parade route to celebrate Canada’s birthday!
Cady Corman, marketing and communications, Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North
