It’s May. How crazy is that? One more month and school will be out. One more month and LSS grads will be starting their lives outside of high school.
One thing I’ve learned is that one month takes less than a heartbeat to pass. So, enjoy one more month and check out these awesome events.
Evan Miller at the 49th CaféIf you find yourself with nothing to do on a Friday night, you should go listen to some live music at the 49th café. Actually, even if you do have plans for the night of May 20, you should cancel them, grab a hot chocolate from the 49th Café and see local musician Evan Miller perform instead. Event starts at 7 p.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m. Admission is free.
LSS Grad FundraiserIf you want photos with your family, friends, team, band, individuals or more, the grad class of 2011 hosts a fundraiser May 19 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Get multiple shots and poses in your 10 minute sitting with LifeTouch. Sitting fee is $10 and it goes straight to the grad class. There’s no obligation to buy photos, and the proofs are yours to keep. E-mail lssgrad2011@gmail.com or call LSS at 250-245-3043 to sign up for a time slot. This fundraiser will be canceled if there is not enough interest.
Open Mic NightThe last open mic night of the year is May 25. You definitely don’t want to miss the opportunity to see the talented students of LSS. If you’re a student, sign up to perform. Remember, performances aren’t only limited to music. Poetry, dance, comedy, and more are all welcome. If you don’t perform, still come out to support your classmates. Admission is by donation.
Rec RoomLadysmith Youth Services Fair comes to LSS May 11. See the local services for teens and learn about summer work and volunteer opportunities at the same time. Service providers are there from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. The Rec Room is open Tuesdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Grab a friend and check out movie and pizza nights. Learn how to tie-dye on May 17, join in a pool tournament May 24 and a flag football game May 27. Take advantage of the Rec Room’s big screen TV, pool table, air hockey, video games and more.
Join the Rec Room for the skate park grand opening festivities May 28. More info is to come, so keep an eye out for updates.
