I hope that everyone had a safe and enjoyable Christmas and New Year’s celebration and that you had the opportunity to spend time with family and friends.
Prior to the Christmas break, Council was presented with the initial financial information as part of the 2015 Budgeting process. The Select Committee on Finance meetings are open to the public and the dates will be posted on our regular BACK PAGE information sharing in the Golden Star.
At the Regular Open Council Meetings during the months of January and February, senior Town staff will also be making presentations to Council from each of the departments. This will provide each of the new Councillors with foundational information as well as be a refresher for continuing Councillors.
We have seen some very different water/ice activity on the Kicking Horse River. This situation continues to be monitored and there are ongoing conversations with Ministry staff. We will continue to work to ensure that our community is protected from these types of events.
Town staff continues to work on the New Build Canada Fund and the Provincial Strategic Priorities Fund applications. When successful, these will provide us with the opportunity to address a number of community infrastructure needs.
In the area of Shared Services with Electoral Area A (Rural Golden), the conversations are ongoing, and we know they will lead us to partnerships that will benefit all of the citizens of our community.
Across from the Town Office there has been an amazing amount of work going on over the past few months. Congratulations to all involved with the Grand Opening/Open House of Element Therapeutics (802 Park Drive), Golden’s newest wellness center on January 3rd. Welcome to the neighborhood.
