Re: Big mess left at rural campsite (News, May 30)
The solution to the exploiters leaving their garbage and junk where they’ve camped is more police on the road.
Certainly police have learned they need a presence in Port Renfrew on weekends, and will accept leads from citizens. (But be discreet, the exploiters are probably violent people and when intoxicated more so as for some individuals alcohol removes inhibitions to subconsciously held desires. They are psychologically troubled.)
Only repeated encounters with police will re-educate exploiters, with court action for repeat offenders.
Will voters replace weak politicians with officials who have the decency and guts to perform job No. 1 of government – protect people and their property?
