More restrictions needed as COVID cases surge
Well, exactly what I was afraid of and predicted weeks ago, is now taking place here on Vancouver Island. COVID case counts have increased dramatically and for exactly the reasons I expected.
Basically the recent influx of travelers coming from off-Island, the lack of timely information from the government, the lack of effective enforcement of current restrictions and the reluctance on implementing stricter restrictions has led to a major and dangerous third wave here on the Island.
I used to think the NDP government was doing a pretty good job protecting us, but now I am discouraged, frustrated and angry with their latest responses. BC Green Party leader Sonia Furstenau obviously feels the same way I do and has spoken out advocating restrictions almost the same as I suggested two weeks ago. It’s time for Premier Horgan to wake up and act decisively to control this third wave.
