“Knowledge is power.”
– Father to daughters
It never ceases to amaze how little some people know about the world around them, whether it be local issues, national issues or international issues.
At the same time, it never ceases to amaze how some people can be so vocal without having sufficient knowledge on a topic.
For some time now I have been convinced that that is precisely how George H. Bush, George W. Bush and Stephen Harper were elected, they spoke to those who really have no clue about what is going around them.
But that’s just my opinion.
Nonetheless this planet, including Quesnel, is in trouble if the lack of awareness, the lack of basic knowledge, is an indication of the norm.
Some comments indicate a complete lack of knowledge about what is going on in Japan, or at worst a complete lack of empathy.
All media, big and small, traditional and new, have covered the disasters in Japan in painful and painstaking detail.
So how is it that some people still have no clue of what happened in Japan or still require more information before making a decision on contributing to the relief effort?
We can only hope the number of people living under rocks is less than the number of people with some knowledge of the world around them.
Otherwise, if disaster should strike Quesnel, we are in trouble.
