Need to look at things other than oil and gas on climate change file
Re: Climate change new perspective required.
The first global conference on climate change was in 1979. CO2 emissions then totaled 19,594* mega tonnes. The second gathering occurred in 1990 after these emissions had increased to 22,182 mega tonnes. The Paris Accord of 2015 saw emissions at 35,463 mega tonnes, an increase of 80.99 per cent over 1979. In 2017 the output was 36,153 mega tonnes.
Global oil consumption increased from 62.73 million bbls per day in 1978 to 93 million bbls per day in 2018. (Have used the 1978 figure due to the oil crisis of 1979.) It is interesting to note that the increase in emissions (80.99 per cent) is far higher than the increase in oil consumption (48.25 per cent). The increase from sources other than oil and gas is 62.66 per cent of the total increase. Which clearly indicates that the hypothesis brought forward by the environmentalists and politicians has been wrong. Have they been self serving and myopic throughout? The longer we procrastinate, the more drastic the remedial measures become. Their rhetoric has got us nowhere.

Difference in emissions 15,869/19594 = 80.99 per cent
Difference in bbls 30.27 m bbls / 62.73 m bbls = 48.25 per cent
Emissions 100 per cent/129.24 x 80.99 = 62.66 per cent
100 per cent/129.24 x 48.25 = 37.33 per cent
