Never claimed to speak for all Canadians

It’s remarkable what happens between the submission of a letter to the Citizen and reactions to it in subsequent issues. So it seems to be with Victoria Sundberg Stewart’s reply to my recent letter regarding the CBC. Could it be possible that she misread it or mistook another letter for mine?

It does seem so. First, I never claimed to speak for all Canadians. Where did you get that come from Ms. Stewart? You watch and listen to the CBC? Fine. So do many thousands of others, but that does not negate the fact that fewer and fewer Canadians are now doing so. The 27 nationwide stations do not break 400,000 viewers and listeners in a nation of more than 36,000,000 people. That’s less attention than Canada Proud gets. I’m not sure exactly who is watching, but it isn’t exactly a commanding majority of the nation.

Let’s face it. It’s not doing well, and I will leave you to research just how, and in what way, it is declining and, indeed it is declining. My letter was simply explaining why. There may indeed be some “good stuff” there, a la Ideas and other shows, but again, let’s face it, much of the rest is insipid left leaning tripe, and that is the main reason our nation broadcaster is in trouble. No amount of “Woke” diatribe is going to save it if a large percentage of Canadians don’t want to listen to it or watch it because they are tired of being spoken down to or propagandized to.

I won’t employ your first name in a condescending or supercilious manner, as you did mine Ms. Stewart. I have no right to do so, but in future I would suggest that you read submitted letters more carefully and take more time to research your topic. If you do so, you may be surprised by what you find, and by how much Canada is changing.
