No action yet about off-leash dog park in Comox

Dear editor,

Dear editor,

On June 22, I asked Comox council to look into amending the current bylaw that requires all dogs to be on a leash at all times in every park in town.

I suggested an off-leash park or parks. As of Oct. 22, nothing has been done.

This seems like a simple matter of fairness to all the Comox residents who own or love to play with dogs, who also pay taxes and buy dog licences and support several commercial businesses and several veterinary practices.

I would like to remind all the people who are seeking my vote and the vote of other like-minded people to respect the wishes of all,  not just a loud minority of elitist NIMBYs who say that Comox parks are “too good for dogs.”

I will also point out that contemptible laws breed contempt for all laws, so to all successful candidates, be very careful what you decide to declare illegal.
