Not all Crown Isle residents upset by Thrifty Foods proposal in Courtenay

Dear editor,

We have read the letter signed by Barb and Jackie Scott of Courtenay and published in the June 1 issue of the Record.

The letter is written as though the signers have been given some authority to speak for all residents of Crown Isle or at least all those who attended the meeting sponsored by the City of Courtenay on the proposed Thrifty Foods shopping complex.

To the best of our knowledge, no such authority exists. Further, the letter suggests that all residents of Crown Isle are against the Bristol Road access.

This is is incorrect and there were people in attendance who spoke in favour of this access. It is quite possible, in fact, that there are more residents in favour of the access than against given that a petition against the access garnered approximately 300 signatures, a number that represents considerably less than half the numbers of residents of Crown Isle.

Terry and Gaye Doyle,

Courtenay
