Not worried

Resident provides some thoughts on the recent American election

This letter is my reaction to the column Put on your big girl pants U.S. by Jennifer Smith.

Right away, the first sentence caught my attention – “Understandably, everyone’s whining and crying about the U.S. election results.”

This is a very strong assertion to speak about everyone’s opinion like that. Notice the further the language she is using. She calls the democratic election of Mr. Trump for U.S. president a monstrosity. She say,s “It’s sickening to think just what Trump could do to our nation, our planet, our lives with the power that Americans have given him.”

At this moment, there is no way of knowing what kind of president Mr. Trump will be. To make this kind of prediction is nothing short of Nostradamus’ prognosis.

Smith continues: “The U.S. (and Canada and the rest of the world) is rightfully worried.”

I am not worried.

Half of the U.S. population is not worried.  And for the rest of the world, there are in fact many countries which already expressed high hopes with the outcome of the U.S. election.

If Mr. Trump keeps just one of his election promises – to change the U.S. foreign policy and end all these needless wars around the world (which his predecessor, by the way a winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, failed so miserably to do), it would be a major achievement, for which suffering people in many countries, starting with Syria and Afghanistan, will be grateful to him.

We saw daily on the TV, hundreds marching in New York and other cities, apparently not having anything else to do, under the mantra – Democracy is if my candidate wins. Otherwise let’s go to the street and replace it with anarchy.
