Opportunity knocks

Keep CanKor

When I was a girl growing up in Chilliwack, the Fraser Valley was dotted with beehive burners, many neighbours had outhouses, many had indoor toilets with cesspools out back and most days you could smell the city dump, which was always on fire.

My point is that we didn’t have the foresight or the knowledge to see that we were polluting our health and indeed the very health of our planet.

If there is a way to safely dispose of 400 tonnes of garbage per day, plus harness the energy to add to the grid, don’t let CanKor take their offer somewhere else.

The infrastructure that would be put in place for a $200 million project would surely include road improvements and maintenance. I, for one, abhor the thought that my great-grandchildren could be living and playing in a housing development that was built on 200 feet of landfill.
