Langley is known for its volunteers – we bring this up pretty frequently.
Whether it’s major fundraisers for the Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation, LAPS, the Relay for Life, or the Salvation Army, all the way down to small but vital local efforts – cleaning up streams, volunteering with youth sports organizations – there are already a lot of Langley people out there putting their valuable free time to good use.
Of course, there are dozens of agencies, programs, teams, and causes that could always use a few more helping hands.
Since it’s time to make resolutions right now, why not resolve to put a little energy into your community in the coming year?
Everyone can find some form of volunteerism in this community that excites them.
Like animals? There’s the Langley Animal Protection Society, the CARES cat shelter, and Pacific Riding For Developing Abilities.
Want to help kids? Aside from literally dozens of sports organizations, from soccer to baseball to gymnastics to football, there is Big Brothers Big Sisters Langley.
If you care about the environment, there are streamkeeping groups, the Langley Environmental Partners Society, the Nicomekl Enhancement Society, and more.
Have a passion for local history – or want to learn more about our community’s past? The Langley Centennial Museum, B.C. Farm Museum, and Fort Langley National Historic Site are where you want to start.
Volunteering enriches the community and the lives of the people who undertake those tasks. If you’ve never tried, make this the decade to give it a shot!
Welcome to 2020, Langley!
