Parking around hospital in need of improvement

The parking lot at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital and Dufferin Place is atrocious.

To the Editor,

The parking lot at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital and Dufferin Place is atrocious.

There are many volunteers who have commitments at both places who have to leave because there is no parking in the lot or the streets around. I have seen many people pay to park and after paying to park, leave because of lack of spaces.

Visitors complain of no place to park and residents of Dufferin and hospitalized people look forward to their visitors.

Events where guests are invited at Dufferin Place have to be scheduled in the evening so there will be space to park.

It was announced that new parking spaces would be made available in November, but nothing has happened.

The people of Nanaimo, especially elderly people, need more consideration.

What is it going to take to get the Vancouver Island Health Authority to accommodate the people who need to park there?
