Re: Disappointed by grad celebration, Letters (June 20)
I recently stopped in Hope on my way up to visit my husband’s family in Williams Lake.
We always stop in Hope for a meal at Rolly’s, for a walk around the river and to get gas and supplies.
I was saddened to read the letter about the grad celebrations that were held outside of Hope. It makes my husband and I consider, quite shockingly, that some, especially younger people, don’t know or appreciate what you have in the city of Hope.
To those of us not lucky enough to live there, it is a beautiful, bordering on ideal, piece of Canada where life is slower, but progressive and where potential can flourish more readily than in the “big city.”
Having raised our four sons to their teens in the Lower Mainland, we are now anxious to move away from the hustle-bustle and commercialism of city life.
Be proud of where you are from and patronize your local businesses. You have a good thing in Hope and many of us would be sad to see you lose it.
