To the editor:
I would like to take this opportunity to share with your readers my appreciation for the people of the South Cariboo.
The World Crafts sale is over and I was again impressed with their willingness to support the artisans of the Third World. Hundreds of people came out and expressed their support, both in word and in purchases.
The volunteers, the media, the church and the community all contributed to make this a great success.
The sale of these products provided an annual livelihood for at least four families in the poorest countries. Thanks to all!
I have also had excellent support in the Huntington’s disease fundraisers each fall. Many people, including the local media, have both bought amaryllises and helped me in selling them.
My siblings thank you for the gifts to continue research into this awful, debilitating disease.
And as I reach the end of my time on the board of education, I also want to mention all the great educators I have had the privilege of working with to provide a top-notch education for our children. From classroom teachers to principals and support staff, they have all been working with the board to provide an excellent environment for learning.
It has been a great experience. I wish the new board well in the deliberations and decisions they will have to make. Many people have expressed concern over my potential lack of focus and purpose after I leave the board. I thank them for their concern, but I will still be around and volunteering where there is opportunity. Thanks again to all.
