Re: Incinerator wouldn’t burn off toxins, Letters, Feb. 13.
The proposed incinerator at Duke Point is supposed to be processing tonnes of garbage every day. A considerable amount of toxic material is going to go up the stack and mix with Nanaimo’s air. Six of Nanaimo’s fresh water reservoirs are located within city limits, all of them exposed to the pollution that will most surely rain down from the air polluted by this incinerator. What does this mean for the quality of Nanaimo’s fresh water sources?
Have city council’s incinerator proponents considered the negative effects this can have on Nanaimo’s fresh water supplies? Many of us would like to know.
