Poor representation

Petty politics taking a toll on Canadians, just as parent's bickering hurts children

When parents constantly bicker and belittle each other, everyone in the family suffers.

In a similar way, antagonistic party politics is causing Canadians to suffer. The Conservative members were not elected to bully and denigrate the opposition members; nor were the opposition members elected to carp and whine about every government initiative.

They were elected to represent the varied interests and values of all Canadians in the spirit of government by the people for the people.

Bitter party politics has crippled the American government. Compromise and co-operation have become dirty words.

Canadian politics is moving in the same direction. No wonder politicians are looked down on with disdain.

Sometimes a dysfunctional family can heal itself after the long-suffering children cry out, “Stop your stupid arguing and think about what you are doing to us.”

Maybe it’s time voters stood up and hollered, “Stop your stupid petty politics and start working together for the good of all Canadians.”
