Potheads won’t pay

Police writing tickets for simple possession could prove fruitless.

Re: The question of the week (Aug. 22): “Should police have the authority to write tickets for simple pot possession?”

I believe we have seen this movie before, and we know how it turned out. The difference is that the previous movie was about giving tickets to transit users who failed to produce a ticket showing they had paid their fares.

If you own a B.C. driver’s license, you must pay all outstanding traffic ticket violations before your driver’s license is renewed. This same rule could be applied to transit users who have failed to pay their fares.

The big problem is that they don’t drive and do not have a driver’s license.

The same could be true for those in possession of pot, in many cases.
