Dear editor,
I read with interest the letter to your paper by one of the byelection candidates about the Comox North East Woods.
The real kudos for the woods go to Barbara Price. When she was first a Comox councillor in the early ’90s, she successfully fought to save the North East Woods from development.
As president of our society, the Friends of Comox-Lazo Forest Reserve, she is now leading the protection of the remaining Crown land in the North East Woods (district lot DL 194) and working to prevent a road going through this majestic forest.
I’d like to welcome people to become new members of our society, as it allows us to speak with a louder voice. It is $8 for a family membership and $5 for a single. Please send cheques made out to the Friends of the Comox-Lazo Forest Reserve to 330 Butchers Rd., Comox, B.C., V9M 3W6.
