You probably know that the Village of Lumby has applied to become the site of the large criminal remand centre and provincial prison to be constructed somewhere in the Okanagan over the next couple of years.
Lumby council continues to pursue acquiring this prison despite a couple of opinion polls held in late April, in which, although Lumby voted 56 per cent to do so, the adjacent surrounding RDNO Area D voted 66 per cent against it, for a combined community opinion of 56 per cent against.
Lumby’s slogan is Simply the Best. I propose a change to this as follows:
Democracy’s process we trust
To keep our communities just.
But a fair vote said no;
Yet the jail’s still a go.
So Lumby is Simply the Bust.
