Residents of Coldstream and those living in the two regional district areas (B and C) are totally against amalgamating with the City of Vernon.
Why? Well if they stay out of the city they can continue to use Vernon arenas, many ballfields, library, curling rink, Polson Park, the recreation complex, etc. I could go on and on.
I recall in 1973, the-then NDP government, without a referendum, announced that Kelowna, Rutland and Okanagan Mission would amalgamate and become the present City of Kelowna.
Was this a success?
Definitely, as today Kelowna isĀ one of the most successful and third largest city in the province.
Come on BX and Coldstream, wake up and amalgamate as soon as possible.
A small tax increase is no reason not to do so.
