Proud of our Surrey Olympians

I want to commend and congratulate all Canadians who participated in the Summer Olympics

On behalf of my constituents, and all other Surrey residents, I would like to take this opportunity to say how proud we all are of our Surrey Olympians.

Richard Weinberger’s unprecedented bronze in the 10-kilometre open water swim, Christine Girard’s bronze in weightlifting, and women’s bronze-medal winning soccer team coach John Herdman and equipment manager Maeve Glass did us all – Canadians, British Columbians and Surrey residents –very proud.

I also want to commend and congratulate all Canadians who participated in the Summer Olympics, whether medalists or not – Surrey’s Hilary Caldwell in swimming for example – and thank them for their dedication, effort and strength to reach world class and Olympic heights in athleticism.

Canada sent a tremendous team to London, and we are very proud of each and every one, for success is not only measured in medals, but in individual commitment and skill, and our athletes stood out among the world at these Olympics.

From the bottom of my heart, and with great pride, through this newspaper I thank all of you for your wonderful efforts.
