Province’s HST vote advertisements are misleading

I am a little fed up with the BC Government’s misleading ads on the HST vote.
As an example, last week’s Gazette displpayed an ad reading “Before you vote, understand the referendum question.”

Editor: I am a little fed up with the BC Government’s misleading ads on the HST vote.

As an example, last week’s Gazette displpayed an ad reading “Before you vote, understand the referendum question.”

It then stated that a vote of No will mean a 10 per cent HST.

This is untrue, as the HST will stay at 12 per cent with a promise from the premier that it will go down in three years.

It further states that a Yes vote will leave the GST and PST at 12 per cent.

However, I am sure we all remember that there were many, many items which the PST did not apply to.

That will continue if we dump the HST.

With the HST gone, we will be paying less in tax.

The new BC premier is no different from the last one. When Christie Clark served in Gordon Campbell’s government, he chose her as deputy minister.

This is a clear indication that she was the one he saw as replacing her. I am sure she has not disappointed him.

Hopefully, people will not be taken in by this government’s blatant attempt to distort the truth.

The fact that you and I are paying for these deceitful ads makes it even worse.
