Quarry would make worthwhile park
I have been thinking more about the quarry in Cobble Hill.
What if the young (and older) people did more than just sign a petition for the quarry to become a park with washroom and garbage facilities? What if they contributed financially towards purchasing it too? What if they agreed to volunteer their time to cleaning up the grounds and ensuring vehicles didn’t knock down fences for access? What if they also shared on social media that there are long time residents in the area and to please be respectful of them? What if they could understand that when a place is designated parkland, it comes at a price?
The question for me is: am I willing to pay extra in taxes to provide a safe place for all to enjoy the quarry? My answer would be yes, but with a caveat: the owners of dirt bikes and other vehicles must finally get it — the quarry is not a place for off road adventures. It never was. And please, take out all your belongings, including garbage. Very simple really.
