The Quesnel Unit office is currently seeking volunteers with specific interest and skill in public speaking, writing articles, editing a Unit flyer, volunteer engagement and computer (data processing, etc.) to help spread the Canadian Cancer Society message.
Orientation and training is available and given both locally and regionally as an update for members and as introduction for new volunteers. Locally, Orientation to the Canadian Cancer Society, presented by Anne Burgess, happens the last Monday of each month until the end of May. Next session is 11a.m. – noon, March 26 at the Quesnel Unit office, 332 Front Street. Pre-register with the office at 992-6551.
The Daffodil Campaign (flowers) is now well underway. Daffodils will be distributed March 29 – 31. Businesses can pre-order their cut flowers by calling the Unit Office, 250-992-6551.
Daffodil pins will be available throughout the month of April at various businesses. For information on where to get your pin, call the Unit Office. Daffodil Day is April 27. Please wear a yellow daffodil to show your support for people on a cancer journey.
At our February meeting, Relay For Life reported 25 teams were already registered; three of the teams are new this year. The goal is to have 43 teams participate in this year’s Relay. Michelle Godfrey is in charge of team development. She and her team of mentors are doing a terrific job! Thank you, Michelle. For more information on how you can be a part of the biggest cancer event to make the biggest difference, call our Unit Office or Michelle at 250-983-8815.
The Quesnel Unit office hours are 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. weekdays beginning March 5 — but closed, as usual, for Spring Break in mid-March, school holidays in July and August and Christmas Break.
Our next meeting is March 14, at noon at our office on Front Street. Members and prospective members are welcome.
