How can one represent Houston if you are living over 300 km away in Prince George?
Council is more than two meetings a month. Does Councillor Joanne Dickinson feel her contribution
is so valuable the District of Houston will go into receivership if she is not present. You have given up
all your other committees and responsibilities, (they have been taken over by other councillors) yet you
cling to the monthly stipend paid to you.
There is no need to fill the vacant position as it is close to the November election and the remaining
councillors are quite capable of handling the task of running the day to day chores for the people they
represent. Heck , even now they are sharing the extra work load that was distributed after you resigned
from all your committees.
The way I see it this will cost the District of Houston over $3,000 plus from July to November to have
a councillor who is no longer accountable and available to the taxpayers. Taxpayers money that could be used
for more valuable work within the District of Houston.
The citizens of Houston must really be shaking their heads at her decision and wondering why?
You moved on — so move on — they will survive.
