Dear editor,
In recent weeks both the federal Conservatives and the provincial Liberals have put forward their 2015 “balanced” budgets and in doing so both had to sell assets and/or withdraw from their contingency funds.
As a retired individual I too have to maintain a balanced budget where my expenses do not exceed my earnings. If I have to withdraw from my savings and/or sell my house to make ends meet can I really say I have balanced my budget? Likewise I have a lot of trouble accepting the “balanced budget” spin being provided by our two senior levels of government. One thing for sure is our national and provincial wealth is definitely less.
A little honesty might go a long way to restoring some credibility to both levels of government.
