Save Sowchea Elementary school for public use

We need to get together in the Fort to find a way to take possession of Sowchea Elementary

“We need to get together in the Fort to find a way to take possession of Sowchea Elementary. Any good ideas? Arts and culture center?Museum? Lets save this facility for this community!” says Philip Short of Fort St. James.

Philip posted this comment in Hell Yeah Fort St. James and he has had an outpouring of support and suggestions.

“A senior’s centre? A rehab support facility? Fort St. James residents share ideas for old elementary school”. CBC’s Jordan Tucker spoke to a few people about what should be done with the old Sowchea Elementary school. The five minute segment was played on Daybreak North March 30. http://www.cbc.ca/listen/shows/daybreak-north/segment/12151971

Philip attended the meeting at the high school on Mar 30 with SD 91 representatives taking proposals for the “disposal” of Sowchea Elementary “but nothing really has happened since.”

On Sunday April 9, Philip created a Facebook group Save Sowchea Elementary for Public Use! especially for the purpose of taking this forward and gulvanising action.

“Please sign on and keep the discussion going. We need to get serious about saving the facility. We need a tour and meeting. Submissions for proposals need to be in School District office by April 28th. I am trying to consolidate interest so we can proceed . Please share this with all who may be concerned. Thank you Phil Short”.
