Saying thanks

Resident touched by the generosity of a resident towards local school

As the new president of the B.C. drama teachers, I am having to attend many meetings in Vancouver and I usually fly back and forth.

About a month ago, my return flight was over booked and because I had time, I volunteered to wait for the next flight.

While I was at the ticket counter, another lady was there who had also volunteered to go later. However, she mentioned that she didn’t know how she was going to get from the Kelowna airport to her home in Vernon as her ride would no longer be there.

Without a second thought, I offered to give her a ride home.  She was very grateful and we enjoyed pleasant conversation as I drove her home.

I never thought twice about it. A week before spring break, a card arrived in my school mailbox.

It read, “Hello Lana. I’ve been thinking of ways to share a recent monetary gift. Yours seems like a good place to start. Thank you for the lift from the airport. Carla.”

With it was a donation of $500 for the Seaton drama/choir department. I am so inspired by Carla. I have shared her story with many staff members and with my students.  I’ve asked them all to pay it forward and keep this good karma going.

Thank you Carla.
