Dear Sir:
Re: My Mountain Co-op and the call for assistance to purchase Shames Mountain.
Have we learned nothing? We cannot continue to believe that money grows on trees!
We all watched the U.S. as they struggled to figure out how to pay their debts and eventually gave in to raising the debt ceiling.
We have to accept that if a business cannot support itself then we cannot continue to throw money at it.
Remember that what you’re asking for is not free government handouts – it’s our money, the taxpayers’ money and it came out of our own pockets.
The ski hill already owes back a lot of our tax dollars so now you want the government to throw more good money after bad?
I do not believe that any level of government has the right to give my money to a business that cannot support itself.
It’s unfortunate that the ski hill is not viable and it will be a shame if it no longer exists but if someone can’t step up and run it as a real business then I can’t support it with my tax dollars.
