Dear editor,
I have a huge complaint regarding the thoughtless snowmobilers who are now using the south side of Kilometre 11 rather than the north side of the road up to Mount Washington.
In the past couple of years they have been increasingly using the trails there favoured by snowshoers, cross-country skiers, snowboarders and tobogganers.
On Jan. 2, snowmobiles were seen going up and down toboggan runs amongst children and their families.
My eight-year-old son and his friends have a snow fort on that hill they have been working on for the past couple of weeks. This is now a high-risk activity. To say nothing of having to breathe in all the fumes.
Why are the snowmobilers using this side of the highway?
One might speculate that they are now using the trails on the south side of the road to get into Strathcona Park where they have been recently sighted.
