As more campsites of homeless people are emerging around town, why not allow those less fortunate to camp at the Vernon Army Camp.
Most of those grounds are not being used for the defence of our country.
There are adequate sanitary facilities and that would reduce the risk for wildfires.
Instead of training the recruited child soldiers (army cadets) how to handle guns for the purpose of killing people as the Morning Star July 30 showed, these young recruits would learn first hand about the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder as many of the homeless are veterans with serious health problems caused by the military missions they participated in to defend and protect the interests of the one per cent in foreign countries.
Instead of teaching our child soldiers that might is right, helping the homeless would teach them compassion and empathy, Canadian values our soldiers used to be recognized for throughout the world.
Having experienced homelessness in our own country will make those young recruits think twice before they eventually cause homelessness in foreign countries by bombing and destroying the houses of those who are different and therefore, do not like.
