Speeding epidemic on Gibbins Road

I want to propose to change the name of Gibbins Road to extension of Hwy 1. Somebody got the stated speed limit totally wrong. It says 30kph but I see nothing but 40, 50, 60, 70, and yes up to 100. I have a radar on my phone.

Imagine the dummy (me) that does drive the speed limit. Aggressive driving that is going to create something bad in our future. I see dog walkers, kids, old folks, all walking past my place heading for that crosswalk that has jeopardy from both ends of Gibbins.

I have been here just under five years and see everything from my back and front yards.

Let me express the sounds alone including racing rat finks behind those wheels. When I moved here I saw cops playing watching the traffic twice but that was when I moved here. Since then, nothing, ever. We have no community police watching out for this stuff, but in a matter of time something very nasty will happen.

When I walk past the hospital and down that horrible fume loaded strip towards the turnaround I just feel like puking. Everybody racing up and down like it is a race. Place a cop car here and there and things would fall paralyzed. But we all know soon as the cops are gone…zoom zoom. I haven’t even talked about the many different mufflers. Close your eyes and everything on the road is a 53 footer! Speed bumps work 24 hours a day and never need overtime. If you do that, do them from the turnaround all the way up Gibbins, past Wilson (another speed haven) and keep those bumps nice and high all the way until the last posted 30kph.

I propose to change Gibbins to Hwy 1 because I know if that happens I might find radar where it belongs with the ones who do it all the time all around Hwy 1 (no where else) and everything else seems unnecessary.

30 kph is no different than a school to a hospital. Somebody needs a shake!
