Sportsplex should pay for its own field house
Re: New field house at Sportsplex
Here we go again. Due to insufficient foresight and planning, the Sportsplex is again knocking on the CVRD’s door for funding.
I agree with Drew Cooper, in the article in the Citizen of Dec. 19, that a new field house could attract big ball tournaments and other competitions and would be a boon to hotels, restaurants and shopping stores. But what is the boon to us, the ordinary taxpayers? We again are picking up an unwanted share of the bill through our property taxes for something which most of us will not use and have no use for.
The Sportsplex is attempting to obtain funds for the new field house from every government imaginable, municipal, regional provincial and federal. My question, to the management of the Sportsplex is: how much money is the Chesterfield Sports Society contributing to the cost of their field house?
