Stickle Road

Resident wants a light at the Highway 97 intersection

The speed along 32nd Street through town heading north  is 50 kilometres per hour.

One goes 500 feet past the Prestige Hotel and it increases to 80 kilometres per hour.  And then another 500 feet and there is stop light. How stupid is this?  Have you ever tried doing a 90-degree turn on to 48th Ave doing 80 kilometres per hour?

Is this the same thought process of the engineering staff at the Ministry of Transportation that is working on the Stickle Road fiasco? The speed going through the light at 48th Avenue should stay the same at 50 kilometres per hour and then change to 80 past the light, and continue to stay at 80 until you pass the weigh station.  This is a no-brainer.

There is simply no problem with a light at Stickle Road.  There are lights throughout this whole province at important intersections and changes are made as the population and business increase.

The most recent proposal that the ministry came up with is the most ridiculous idea I have ever heard.

Directing highway traffic through residential areas — how stupid.

Again, the only problem is ministry staff.

Perhaps the premier should look into the replacement of the ministry staff with people who understand the concept of traffic flow and safe conditions.

Perhaps the city should take this up with the premier and get some top-of-the-line help in here.
