Stocking McGuire Lake raises many questions

The first time the fish-stocking idea was presented to the community, I put in a minimal amount of time to assist, Greg and Sylvia Husband in their effort to maintain the lake as it is.

Look around. The countryside is abundant with lakes with fish already in them.

So why must we put fish in a body of water so small that if it were meant to support the fish proposed to be put in it, they would already be there.

Why experiment with upsetting ecosystems of that peaceful environment? What percentage of young  people actually want to fish and would use the facility?

Children I know were involved in fast-paced activities such as hockey, baseball, basketball or in computer games or Nintendo.

Again, how many families are so poor that they cannot afford a car to take a weekend drive?

(Who wants to spend all their time in Salmon Arm and who would this really benefit?)

Children near water require supervision. Who is going to enforce an adult be present?

If there were a tragedy would the city be held responsible and legally liable?

Perhaps McGuire Lake would have to be gated at night to ensure public safety.

There are many reasons to question why McGuire Lake should be used as a resource to plunder.
