Successful earthquake plant sale fundraiser
Dear editor,
A great big thank you to all who participated in our fundraiser plant sales for the Ecuadorian earthquake relief.
So many people from the Comox Valley stepped forward to show their true spirit once again.
The Record and the Echo both made room at the last minute to run our article. The Tide Change and so many other newsletters spread the word, and countless people showed up to donate plants, money and support for this very worthwhile cause.
As we write this on April 29, this endeavour has raised over $3,500 through plant sales and donations, with over $2,000 contributed from the Comox Valley alone.
Our son is volunteering as a co-ordinator right at the epicentre of the quake areas, and is getting the money to the hardest hit areas. He is hoping to provide 100 water filter systems to needy areas for starters. The devastation, deaths and injuries down there are just horrendous and they need all the help they can get.
The best part is that there are no administration fees whatsoever. All of the donations get right to the source. We are sending one more wire transfer on May 10. For more information, phone 250-339-6415 or email glennfid@outlook.com.
Special thanks to Dave and Cecile Reade, Liz Hodgson, Joyce Khatcherian and many others for their tireless work. We couldn’t have done it without them.
