It is no secret that Saanich has long neglected the two tennis courts in Cadboro-Gyro Park.
Compared to the other outdoor courts in Saanich, they rank bottom in quality. No wonder that, comparing again, they are under-used, so the municipality plans to scrap them.
But this neglect-versus-under used policy can be applied to scrap anything, as it was already done with other courts in Saanich.
The municipality should better recognize that the demand for outdoor tennis courts is higher than the supply, and that many players, including myself, often have to use the Cadboro Bay courts in spite of their low quality.
So instead of wasting our money to destroy what is already there, the municipality should better use a fraction of it to refurbish these courts for the enjoyment of all tennis lovers.
